In these circumstances we would be required as Mandatory Reporters to make a report to the relevant agency and possibly require case notes we have written in sessions with your child or documentation you have completed on behalf of your child. In most of these situations (unless we as practitioners are at risk of harm ourselves) would discuss a notification we would potentially need to make so you are aware of what has been shared to appropriate agencies (Child Safety or TAS Police).

With Play Therapy sessions, we will endeavour to keep the information your child shares with us confidential between the child and therapist. You will be given progress updates about how they are going in therapy, specific or recuring themes we may be observing and any significant concerns if they arise. However, we ask that you trust the process and us to guide your child through their therapeutic journey with us.

Disclosure of your information to other services:

If you require us to liaise with other organisations or agencies (your child’s schoolteachers, a caseworker, your child’s grandparents etc), we need written consent from you to comply and for you to advise what you would like discussed. Most often these conversations would not be had without you present to avoid any miscommunication.
